Saving Grace showrunner Nancy Miller on hiring staff writers

Filed under: Breaking In, Working — petertypingfaster @ 9:00 am

The WGAw has posted a nice video interview with Nancy Miller, showrunner for Saving Grace. One thing really jumped out at me though and that was:

What do you look for when hiring a writer?

I look for someone who has something to say. A passive writer doesn’t interest me. That’s how I start everyone going into the episodes, it’s like what do you want to say? What do you have to say? And if a writer doesn’t have anything to say they shouldn’t be writing.

You can find the rest of the great interview here.

Thanks to Amanda for initially tipping me off.
