Science of being a reader

Filed under: Breaking In, the biz — petertypingfaster @ 9:00 am

Friend sent me a funny quote about being a studio reader. Course it’s a joke, but there’s an element of truth to it.

You don’t really have to “read” a script to read a script. We do it all day at the office. We flip through it real fast and if we see a lot of dialogue we say it’s too talky and throw it away. If we see no dialogue we say there’s no character development and throw it away. If the script is a perfect mixture of action and dialogue we say it needs a polish, and then we throw it away. It’s not rocket science.”

Scary what happens to our babies once we send them out.
