Hollywood Spec Market Not So Dead?

Filed under: Features, Specs — petertypingfaster @ 6:43 pm

For months studios have been crying poverty, tightening their belts and saying that their development funds are all tapped out.

And then they go and buy 5 pitches in a week.

It’s interesting to see how the stats broke down.

  • Almost all the sales were by writers repped by one of the big five, okay, not really a surprise there.
  • A lot of them were originals, which is a bit of a surprise.
  • And a lot of them had attachments, though mostly producers as opposed to directors or actors, which struck me as odd.

Anyway you slice it, it’s a breath of fresh air amidst all the doom and gloom (Hey guys! Things aren’t that bad! Yay!).

H/T to Amanda where I read it first.
