Sunday Soliloquy: Greed Is Good (Wallstreet, 1987)

Filed under: Sunday Soliloquy — petertypingfaster @ 7:38 pm

Wall Street is a great film, though its one that’s often misunderstood. Some people hold up Michael Douglas’ character Gordon Gekko as a hero of free market capitalism. His mantra that “Greed Is Good” has been the rallying cry for the less scrupulous members of the financial world for years.

And just look at how that turned out for all of us.

But whatever impact rampant greed has had on our modern world, as far as speeches go, it’s a damn good one.

Here’s Gordon Gekko expounding his personal philosophy.

I may not agree with him, but the words certainly have a nice flow to them.
