  1. It grew, mostly because it was funny, and many ofthe people in our circle of Twitter friends are writers.

    Then it became a fun hashtag game: How many funny death stories can you come up with? For a while there, it took on a Chuck Norris flavour, each story more ridiculous and silly than before.

    But as you said, it grew organically, a kind of electronic flash mob.

    Try to make it happen for some charity, cause or *gasp* product, and I doubt it would have worked. It’s just not as fun.

    I think of all those executives attending social media marketing seminars getting all jazzed about using these networks as promotional tools scratching their heads – or other body parts – trying to create magic in a bottle and I think of a zen professor I had explaining how you can’t catch a jellyfish by reaching for it; It has to come to you.

    Meanwhile, congratulations on your un-demise.
